The Ger

Most of our workshops and treatments are offered in our Ger.  The Ger, also known as a Yurt (Yurts are Russian structures which differ from the Mongolian Ger), is a traditional Mongolian home.  Our Ger was transported across from Mongolia and started its life in Tasmania with Kilandril’s Waking Dreams run by Kelly Smyth, an Earth Shaman providing spiritual journeys.  It now provides a beautiful, sacred space for our workshops and energy healing practices.

  • The Ger holds profound spiritual significance for many cultures, particularly those in Central Asia where it originated. Physically, a Ger is a traditional portable dwelling structure characterised by its circular shape, wooden lattice walls, and felt covering.

  • Its unique design allows for easy assembly and disassembly, making it well-suited for nomadic lifestyles. The Ger’s circular layout represents unity, harmony and the cyclical nature of life, reflecting the interconnectedness of humanity with nature and the cosmos, reflecting a harmonious relationship with the natural world.

  • It serves as a space for communal gatherings, rituals and ceremonies and provides space for spiritual expression. For these reasons the Ger is ideal for our offerings to you.

  • At times, depending on group numbers or change of location, we will offer our workshops in another suitable space such as Community Halls, workshop spaces and retreat locations.

At TamKira, we respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live, the Palawa people of lutruwita (Tasmania). We pay our respects to their Elders past and present, and honor their deep and enduring connection to the land, waters, and skies.

We recognize that lutruwita is unceded land—never surrendered, always sacred. We commit to walking alongside First Nations people in the journey toward healing, truth-telling, and sovereignty.
